Phil Dorrell has over 30 years retail experience working in the UK for Safeway and Asda. He has held positions from Regional Management responsible for over £340M a year, Head of Central Operations and latterly Head of In-store Marketing for Asda. Phil‟s diverse experience gives him a clear perspective on both store operations, branding and marketing. Having helped Asda become the best value retailer in the UK he is keen to pass on his expertise to help smaller businesses grow sales profitably.

Phil is passionate about the customer experience and the need to understand their needs and deliver it consistently. A keep fit enthusiast he is never too far from a “big run” and is a huge Rugby Union fan.

James McGregor is a retail professional with over 20 years experience working for Asda in the UK and globally for Wal-Mart. James was ultimately responsible for the retail operations of the George clothing brand internationally, having worked in such diverse markets as the Far East and South America. He has built a big reputation for operational improvement that delivers better customer advocacy that increases sales and profit.

James is passionate about planning and every day low cost delivery. In his spare time James works with Community Business Partners as a mentor to micro businesses or cycling around Lancashire, attacking the Pennine Hills.

  • Name: Alistair Robinson
  • Biography:

Alistair has more than 25 years’ retailing experience much of which has been spent with the U.K.'s largest retailer, Tesco. Alistair progressed through the ranks at Tesco from graduate trainee to Senior Buying Manager accountable for categories with sales in excess of £400m.

At Tesco Alistair covered the majority of edible and non-edible grocery categories, introducing some ground breaking sub-categories along the way. His responsibilities latterly included delivering “local products” for Tesco and he continues this passion now, supporting smaller producers and manufacturers deliver ‘retail ready’ products for independent and the large grocery multiples . To date, Alistair has brokered the introduction of more than 200 ‘locally sourced’ products into the multiples.

His reputation has been built on integrity, a keen focus on the customer and success in delivering effective change. Time at home is spent with his wife and six children.

Catherine is an Human Resource professional with over 15 years’ experience in the Retail and Media sectors. From the Tesco Graduate programme she gravitated from Store to Regional Personnel Management before moving to Head Office running change programmes and developing HR policy. Catherine was instrumental in delivering a step change in People Management skills and processes.

Catherine’s key strength is helping businesses improve their people processes and embrace positive change through simple and pragmatic solutions.

When not working Catherine enjoys Pilates, swimming and improving her French language skills.

Janet Hollis his an HR professional with over 20 years experience across all HR disciplines within a wide range of large and small organisations. With an ability to identify and deliver practical HR solutions to meet a wide range of business problems she has a proven track record in producing simple and flexible contracts of employment and policies and procedures to support business’ in achieving their business goals. This, coupled with her supportive and down to earth approach, has enabled her to support over 30 small and medium size business’. Janet is a Governor at a local primary school and has led a local fundraising initiative to rejuvinate her local park. In her spare time she enjoys running with her Dalmation and going to her local gym.

Paul has over 25 years experience in retail operations management where he held responsibility for developing strategic business initiatives, landing extensive projects and maximising profit delivery within a billion pound corporate business. His specialisms include store I.T. systems and loss prevention. More recently he has focused on his number one passion, which is the training and development of others. Paul’s greatest satisfaction comes from helping others realise their true potential and ultimately gaining recognition of that contribution from their employers.

When not in work or studying Paul keeps fit by practicing two martial arts. He holds a Black belt, 2nd Dan, in Muay Thai kickboxing and was recently awarded an advanced Brown belt in Kudo by Grand Master Azuma, the founder of the Kudo discipline.

Nigel's contribution to the Retail-Remedy team is in creating learning and communication strategies to deliver effective training across the widest range of retail activities. Nigel has created technical specification training for a number of retailers including Asda, George and Next. He has project led programmes in all media, from the classroom to e-learning and believes that clear communication forms the basis of all good training.

Having worked with some of the UK’s biggest retailers, Liam has built a strong reputation for delivering innovative design solutions to leading retailers including, Tesco, Asda, George and Homebase. From producing schematics, 3D visuals, fixture innovation and design with clear space analysis, the client has a true understanding of the end result in any format design.
