Overview

Declining footfall and revenue was a concern to or client who managed a number of Markets and also worried the individual traders. Improved retail standards were required to help build customer confidence and improve the markets viability.

Approach

After visiting the markets and the high street competition we evaluated the offer from a customer’s perspective and constructed a workshop to build an improved retail offer across a multitude of product offers. The workshop provided:

  • A self-analysis tool that allowed the traders to evaluate their strengths and weaknesses and challenge their perspective of what they could be
  • A role-model session looking at some of the best Market traders we have seen using high definition pictures and commentary on how they became the best.
  • Routines that retailers employ to maintain standards daily and how they achieve this through their people
  • How to make the customer the centre of your business and your best marketing tool

Results

Each of the traders were inspired to look afresh at their business and introduce more professionalism into their services and offer. Follow up visits confirmed that an improvement in the look and feel and trading standards of the traders had improved their trade, improving market viability.
