Our client was holding excessive amounts of inventory within its stores, leading to poor operating processes, high markdown levels, double handling and poor returns on its total footage allocation.
 

Approach


Working with key stakeholders throughout the supply chain we were able to:

 

  • Identify the optimum level of stock holding each store should carry
  • Determine the delivery frequencies required for each store
  • Design a store process to eliminate double handling
  • Deliver a best practice programme for delivery processing


Results


As a result of the recommendations presented, the client delivered the following measured improvements

 

  • Warehouse space reductions of 25%
  • Store inventory reductions of 47%
  • Delivery turnaround times reduced from 48 hours to 18 hours
